The leaders of the Group of Eight countries took the decision to make the round sums appropriations to help to the North African and Middle Eastern countries starting the democratic path of development. The Deauville Partnership was already arranged with Tunisia and Egypt; within the next two years these countries will be assigned a sum of more than 15 billion of euros.
At the present time we are involved in requirements estimation, but it is already clear that these requirements are great. Before we start the investments these countries have to prove that they are not going to stray from the democratic path. We need to see the progress of democracy. We are going to see the state of affairs before we start assigning money”.
According to the leaders of the group of Eight the Arab Spring support for them is a matter of principle; the social changes taking place in Arab countries are compared by the western countries politicians with the fall of the Berlin Wall.
